First Impressions of Boo Radley

My first impression of Boo Radley is that he is crazy. You know that the rumors about him never coming out of his house or opening his shutters are true because the kids stand witness to that and although some of the other rumors about him may be false, that alone is enough for me to think that he is crazy. I believe that the rumor that he stabbed his father in the leg and then continued to cut out the The Maycomb Tribune is also true because the citizens of Maycomb stood witness to it as "Mrs. Radley ran screaming into the street that Arthur was killing them all, but when the sheriff arrived he found Boo still sitting in the livingroom, cutting up the Tribune" (page 11). Inspite of the fact that Boo Radley is crazy, I think that many of the rumors started about him are completely false. I think that the citizens of Maycomb County make up these rumors simply for the sake of drama. I believe they do such things to have an interesting story to tell and to scare people.

I believe that I am most like Scout when it comes to the Boo Radley house because, like Scout, I would rather keep away from the house and mind my own business than go up to it and try to find more information on it, risking my life as I do it. Also, like Scout, I think that Jem's and Dill's ideas to secretly go to the Radley house are immature, stupid, and dangerous.

I sit in the front row of Mrs. McKillip's first period English class, sitting three from the left (imbetween Steven and Austin).
